This book grew out of eight songs written from time spent boating and living on the water — in Venice, Florida, where the inlet meets the Gulf, the sandbars fill up on weekends, and the storms come in fast and leave just as quickly.

Each chapter tells the real story behind one song: where it came from and what it means. Leaving the inlet before sunrise to fish 60 miles offshore solo. Long runs exploring new ports, quiet moments by the water, and everything out there that finds its way into the music. The moments that don’t make it onto a postcard, but show what life on the Gulf Coast is really like. For anyone who knows Southwest Florida — or wishes they did.
